Before Your Initial Visit

FOR ALL VISITS A list of skincare products will help determine which items should remain in your regimen and what need to be added or replaced.

FOR ALL VISITS

  1. A list of skincare products will help determine which items should remain in your regimen and what need to be added or replaced.
  2. Bring a list of all the medications you are taking or applying on the face. Be as detailed as possible: name, strength or dosage, how often you are taking/using the drug, and why it was prescribed to you. Please include all medications, not just for your skin.
  3. If you get cold sores, even on an occasional basis, we may pre-medicate you so that you do not have an outbreak after your treatment.
  4. You may click here to download new patient forms.

FOR CONSULTATIONS

  1. If your problem area involves the face, arrive with a clean face with no makeup for the best analysis. (Non-tinted sunscreen is allowed and preferred.) You may bring makeup to apply after your consultation if you wish.
  2. If you are consulting about injectables, please provide a colored face photograph of yourself in your early-to-mid 20s. Head-on shots of the full face are best.
  3. Bring several photos of what you would like your end results to be. They can be from magazines, personal photos, website printouts, anything. Photoshopped pictures are NOT recommended!

FOR INJECTABLES

  1. Please provide a colored face photograph of yourself in your early-to-mid 20s. Head-on shots of the full face are best.
  2. Try not to take any blood thinning medications at least 3-5 days before your appointment to reduce the likelihood of bruising. The most common blood thinning agents that people consume are: Ibuprofen, aspirin, Aleve, Advil, Motrin, Excedrin, steroids, fish oil, and vitamin E. If any of these listed medications are explicitly prescribed by a healthcare professional to treat a condition (such as cardiologist-prescribed baby aspirin or Plavix to help prevent heart attacks), DO NOT stop taking that medication. If you get a body or headache prior to your appointment and would like a pain reliever, acetaminophen and Tylenol can be taken.
  3. The bromelain enzyme in pineapples has been known to prevent and heal bruising. Any form of pineapple – juice, chunks, whole fruit – consumed for the 3 days prior to your appointment may help with bruising. Alternatively, you can buy bromelain pills in any health food store or pharmacy.
  4. Arnica is a homeopathic herb that also speeds up the healing process. It comes in several forms: cream, gel, ointment, tablets, or pellets. Start taking arnica pellets 3 days before your appointment to reduce bruising.
  5. You may stop by the office to purchase an anti-bruising kit any time before your appointment. Please call to set up a time.

FOR LASERS/IPL

  1. Do not tan at least 2 weeks before your treatment. This means all types of tanning: tanning bed, lotions, or spray.
  2. Do not plan to be in the sun for at least 5-7 days after the procedure. Therefore, don’t jet off to a Hawaiian vacation or plan to lay out on the beach for about one week post-treatment. A better estimate of downtime will be provided at your appointment.
  3. If you are getting a hair removal treatment, please shave as close to the appointment time as possible. However, if you have extremely sensitive skin, shaving the night before is recommended.
  4. Do not wax, tweeze, or use dipilatories for 3 weeks before a hair removal treatment.
  5. Stop the following topical medications in the areas to be treated about 3-5 days prior to your appointment: retinol, Retin-A (also called Tretinoin), and hydroquinone.
  6. If you have been on accutane or isotretinoin in the past 6 months, you CANNOT receive laser or IPL procedures. We can develop a treatment plan for after the 6 months have passed, but no procedures will be performed prior. A physician’s consent is not acceptable.

FOR PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY

  1. Do not tan at least 2 weeks before your treatment. This means all types of tanning: tanning bed, lotions, or spray.
  2. Do not plan to be in the sun for a few days after the procedure, depending on the IPL’s level of aggression. Therefore, don’t jet off to a Hawaiian vacation or plan to lay out on the beach immediately afterwards. A better estimate of downtime will be provided at your appointment.
  3. Stop the following topical medications in the areas to be treated about 5-7 days prior to your appointment: retinol, Retin-A (also called Tretinoin), and hydroquinone.
  4. If you have been on accutane or isotretinoin in the past 6 months, you CANNOT receive Levulan®-enhanced treatments. We can develop a treatment plan for after the 6 months have passed, but no procedures will be performed prior. A physician’s consent is not acceptable.

FOR FACIALS

  1. There is no advanced preparation needed before facials – just get ready to relax!

FOR CHEMICAL PEELS

  1. Do not tan at least 2 weeks before your treatment. This means all types of tanning: tanning bed, lotions, or spray.
  2. Do not plan to be in the sun for a few days after the procedure, depending on the peel’s level of aggression. Therefore, don’t jet off to a Hawaiian vacation or plan to lay out on the beach immediately afterwards. A better estimate of downtime will be provided at your appointment.
  3. Stop the following topical medications in the areas to be treated about 3-5 days prior to your appointment: retinol, Retin-A (also called Tretinoin), and hydroquinone.
  4. If you have been on accutane or isotretinoin in the past 6 months, you CANNOT receive chemical peels. We can develop a treatment plan for after the 6 months have passed, but no procedures will be performed prior. A physician’s consent is not acceptable.

FOR SCLEROTHERAPY

  1. Bring compression stockings or elastic (ex: ACE®) bandages to your treatment. Compression stockings are preferred, and the gradient should be either 15-20 mmHg for most people or 20-30 mmHg for active people or people who stand on their feet all day. Compression stockings can be found in most pharmacies. If purchasing elastic bandages, buy one bandage per area. (ex: you will need four bandages if we’re treating both thighs and both lower legs.)
  2. Try not to take any blood thinning medications at least 3-5 days before your appointment to reduce the amount of bruising.
